Whereas, the State of Ohio maintains comprehensive support systems for its residents with disabilities, as set forth below:
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) is the primary agency for people with developmental disabilities in Ohio. The DODD handles everything from helping little ones with early intervention to setting adults up with homes and jobs. It is also pretty much the go-to person for Medicaid waivers.
Working alongside DODD, you’ve got Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD). These folks focus on getting people with all sorts of disabilities into the workforce and living independently. Think job training, helping people find work, and figuring out if someone qualifies for Social Security – that kind of thing.
Now, if you need legal muscle, that’s where Disability Rights Ohio comes in. They’re the ones who’ll go to bat for you if you’re having trouble with schools, healthcare, or dealing with discrimination at work.
Furthermore, each county in Ohio runs its own Board of Developmental Disabilities, keeping things local and personalized. These boards are your neighbors, really—they’re right there in the community, helping coordinate services and making sure people get the support they need close to home.
In witness whereof, the aforementioned organizations work in concert to provide comprehensive disability services throughout the state of Ohio, as outlined herein.
